Josh Earns His Star

Josh's Scout Campout

Josh's campout to the Spruces included dad whose assignment was to teach the scouts how to tell time by the stars. It was a fun time. Dinner was okay considering it was being cooked on a fire with too few coals, but everybody was well fed by the time they wandered out to see the stars and find the "hour hand" for the celestial clock using the Big Dipper and the North Pole. By 10 p.m., we were all snoring in our tents. Morning came slow because the rising sun was hidden by mountains. We managed a quick breakfast, and Josh headed out with his buddies on a hike. The Spruces is such a beautiful area, all the family should consider stealing the tent trailer for a campout out there, it's beautiful.

Good-bye to Chips

In memory of one of the greatest guinea pig pets ever, little Chips passed away after making it through two years of mortal life. He was comforted during the scariest part of all by Josh who carefully held him with love and empathy while little Chips quieted down. The little pet needed a friend during that passage, and Josh was brave and strong, though he loved his pet, as did we all. Chips had lots of spunk and personality, and liked to stand on his back legs and whistle. "HEY, get food down here, NOW!" He'd push his head against your fingers when you scratched his head, and would purr if he liked it. Thank you for a wonderful, happy time, Chips! Be nice to all the other rodents we've loved that are now in heaven with you.
